October, I have learned, is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month, so I thought I would share my story. I’ve started writing this at least 10 different times, and even writing it now, I’m not sure I’ll share it in the end. Something I’ve always known, yet still have learned, is that women are so strong. So many of us carry around so much pain, and if writing this could let one person know they aren’t alone, I’ve done my job.Read More
Styling is one of my favorite parts of a shoot, and something I always offer assistance with! Often I see an item of clothing in a store or online and picture how beautifully it would photograph. I’m a HUGE sucker for blue! I think blues photograph beautifully anywhere. If you’re ever in doubt, find something blue! Here are some tips to help you prepare for your big day!
1. My BIGGEST tip: The 90’s called and they want their photos back! Avoid matching outfits - it dates your photos.Read More
Back in May I mixed business with pleasure and jetted off to England with M and Ro to photograph and celebrate the marriage of two of my favorite people! It quickly became my favorite trip to date as we explored the English countryside and later London. I got to share one of my favorite places with Ro, which meant everything to me. Just being there was a breath of fresh air and I can’t wait to return, hopefully in the not so distant future.
L & D chose to have an intimate marital ceremony at the Old Victorian School in Stroud, Gloucestershire. The Reception followed at The Beacon & Railway Hotel in Haresfield. If you're in the area I recommend you go! It's the sweetest pub with some awesome fish and chips! Photos were taken on top of Haresfield Beacon, which is just above the pub and overlooks the whole city. The view is absolutely breathtaking!Read More
These are the kinds of photos I literally DIE over. I call these the
shots between shots and they are always my favorite. EVERY.
DAMN. TIME. They are the shots when you hear my shutter going a
million miles a minute because I don’t stop clicking. They may not
have the perfect backdrop, or be centered in the frame just right, but
they are the real deal. The types of photos that make you feel
something in your core. The ones that are relatable. The ones that
remind you of “that one time 7 years ago”… those types of photos.
It’s been about a week since our vacation out on Block Island, so I thought I would share a little post from our trip! I’ve grown up vacationing in New England since I was little, and I have to say, it is my favorite place in the world to spend my Summers. Growing up, Matthew’s family had a beach house on the Cape, so he spent his Summers there as well, and I think it’s so special we can share this with Ro. Between The Cape, Martha’s Vineyard, Rhode Island, and Maine, it was hard to have a favorite till we came to Block Island last year. Block Island is just south of mainland Rhode Island (about one hour ferry ride) and it is pure magic. It’s turned into such a special place for us, I know we will make it a point to come yearly. It’s the perfect location for a family vacation, or a romantic getaway. The inlets on the Island make the surf not rough, and perfect for little toes to dip in. The water isn’t as frigid as it is on the Cape, and Maine, which is a huge pro. Tropical islands and palm trees are nice, but there is nothing that I love more than pine trees and beach. It is honestly my favorite smell in the world.
’m about to share one of my favorite lifestyle sessions to date! There is something about Spring and being able to shoot this newborn session outside was amazing! This shoot took place on the riverfront in Cold Spring this April. Baby M was born a month early exactly, coming in at just under 5lbs, so a perfect little peanut! Everything was in full bloom and you couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to have a shoot, especially given the weather we had for their maternity session a few weeks earlier!Read More
A few weeks ago I photographed this sweet family and their new baby boy. Emily reached out to me about a newborn session when I first started my business, and I was ecstatic (and slightly terrified). I told her of course I would be honored to, but that I wanted her to realize this would be my first newborn shoot (you have to start somewhere, right?) She assured me she had faith I could do it.Read More
Title not to be confused with the movie but nothing beats trying to plan a mini wedding in under two weeks with two of your besties! They told me they wanted to get married and asked if I could help! I said let's do it! Now if you know Leanne you know she is not a planner and she is late for pretty much everything in life so when she said two weeks I knew we had to step on it! I told her I would photograph it (naturally), and would be happy to put together bouquets, and go dress shopping with her, and lend her anything I had used for our wedding this past September. I have to say looking at pictures you would have no idea this was all thrown together in about a week or less! It was an absolute beautiful intimate ceremony with one of the most beautiful views in our neighboring town of Garrison, NY. She was the most breathtaking bride and you couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day in January to have an outdoor ceremony! I am basically obsessed with everything about this day... to put it mildly.
